Glass Beads - Sonam Village Arts

Sonam Village Arts glass beads are handcrafted from Murano glass by a staff of Tibetan artisans.  From their hands the energy of the ancient and proud Tibetan culture is captured in these beautiful beads.   In a humble studio in a lush Himalayan valley in northern India, a group of Tibetan artists - many of whom recently arrived from a nomadic life in Tibet - work with an extraordinary Kazakh artist, herself from the remote Steppe of Central Asia.

Modern materials are transformed into unique glass creations by artists whose way of living and way of relating to work and people have largely disappeared in the developed, modern world.   Inspiration for these personal ornaments is born from the earth, sky, water, sun, animals, plants, and most importantly the close family life at the center of these still surviving ancient cultures.
